Aamir lands to a heros welcome
So what if he didn't bring an Oscar home? Actor-producer Aamir Khan, whose
Lagaan lost the coveted Oscar to Bosnian film No Man's Land, landed at the
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai on Thursday morning to
receive a welcome befitting a hero.
Aamir, who had gone to Los Angeles along with the director of the film Ashutosh
Gowarikar to attend Oscars award ceremony told visitors at the airport that
for him making good movies for people was more important than bagging awards.
A notable feature of the welcome to Aamir was the presence in large numbers
of Bharatiya Yuva Janata Party workers at the airport when his flight landed
at 12.30 am.
Incidentally, film actor Shahrukh Khan, who had gone abroad on a personal
visit, was also on board the same flight.
Outside the airport, Aamir fans cooled their heels patiently to have a glimpse
of their favorite actor.
