Ash Creates History On Vanity Fair

Aishwarya Rai It seems like people in the west have suddenly started to realize that Bollywood is the place where it's all happening. To acnowledge the contribution of Bollywood to the entertainment world and to increase awareness about the world's largest producer of movies the well-known glamour magazine Vanity Fair has published a special supplement on Bollywood in its May 2002 issue. The 48-page section boasts some of the biggest names from the Indian film Industry in it. And gracing the cover of this section is the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai, the first Indian actress to get this honour. While actress Kirsten Dunst features on the cover of the main magazine, the former Miss World has made it to the Bollywood special cover. The section also features a 10-page photo feature on Indian actors including Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha and Arjun Rampal amongst others. It also includes articles on Mumbai's film industry and has a fashion feature titled 'Modern Exotica' with famous model Yasmin Le Bon wearing couture by Indian designers, Rohit Bal and Rina Dhaka. The special issue, which is in collaboration with the renowned store, Selfridges, has many Asian writers including Meera Syal, Nitin Sawhney and Udita Jhunjhunwala having written especially about the Indian film scenario for the supplement.
